The Food Standard
Terms & Conditions
These terms apply when you use The Food Standard website, create an account, purchase training, use business-team features, complete assessments or download certificates.
Last updated: 25 September 2026
About the training
The Food Standard provides practical workplace awareness training. Unless a course page expressly says otherwise, our courses are not regulated qualifications, government-approved certifications or externally accredited programmes.
A Course Completion Certificate confirms that the named learner completed the relevant training and met the assessment pass mark shown for that course.
Accounts and learner records
- You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure.
- Certificates must use the learner's genuine name.
- You must not manipulate progress, assessment, payment or certificate records or attempt to bypass platform security.
- Business account managers are responsible for assigning training to the correct learners.
Purchases and access
Prices are shown in pounds sterling before checkout. Payment is processed securely by our payment provider. Course access is activated after payment or another valid entitlement is confirmed.
Where a technical problem on our side prevents checkout from being created, we may choose to grant complimentary access as a goodwill gesture. This is discretionary and does not create an entitlement to free training in other circumstances.
Assessments and certificates
Pass marks vary by course and are shown before the assessment. Retakes may be offered without additional charge where stated on the course.
We may correct or revoke a certificate if it was issued because of fraud, technical error, account misuse or manipulated assessment data.
Acceptable use
- Do not copy, resell, scrape or redistribute course content except where expressly permitted.
- Do not interfere with the website, automated systems, payment flow, assessment controls or other users.
- Do not use another person's account or submit an assessment on another learner's behalf.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available and accurate, but maintenance, third-party outages or technical issues can occur. We may update course content, features and these terms where reasonably necessary.
Statutory rights
Nothing in these terms removes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK consumer, data-protection or other applicable law.
