The Food Standard
Refund & Cancellation Policy
This policy explains how we handle cancellations, duplicate payments, technical payment problems and refund requests for online training.
Last updated: 25 September 2026
Before payment is completed
If you leave or cancel Stripe Checkout before completing payment, no course purchase is recorded as paid by The Food Standard. A pending checkout record on our platform is not itself proof that money was taken.
Duplicate or uncertain charges
If your bank shows a pending or duplicate charge, please do not repeatedly retry checkout. Contact us with the email address used for the order and we will reconcile the relevant Stripe session before making any statement about whether payment was captured or refunded.
Refund requests
Contact us as soon as possible if you believe a payment was made in error or you want to request a refund. We will review payment status, course access and usage before responding.
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected. Where UK law gives you a right to a refund or other remedy, this policy does not restrict that right.
Digital training already accessed
Because our products are digital training services that can be made available immediately, the circumstances in which cancellation or refund rights apply can depend on how and when access was supplied and on applicable consumer law. We therefore review requests individually rather than using an automatic 'no refunds' rule.
Complimentary access
Complimentary courses granted as a goodwill gesture have no purchase price to refund. Any separate payment issue will still be investigated on its own facts.
